Mixed media sculpture, 4' x 4.75' x 1'
Materials: Acrylic, hot glue, string, hair, graphite, plaster, wood, burlap
Visiting Hours is the first sculpture Johnston created after the unexpected death of her father. The work invites reflection as materials are layered and exposed, much like the experience of grief. Johnston's hair is encapsulated hot glue strips and woven throughout this plaster and burlap piece that hangs perilously between two walls in a corner.
